Editorial Policy

This policy explains how Red Mill Haunted Village chooses, researches and maintains what it publishes. It applies to every article, guide and tool on the site.

Independence

We are an independent publication. We are not affiliated with Red Mill Museum Village or with any attraction, retailer or manufacturer we write about. Nobody pays to be included in our guides, and we do not accept payment for favourable coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled.

How we research

• We work from primary sources where possible: manufacturer manuals and specifications, official attraction websites and guidance from safety bodies such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Food and Drug Administration.
• We link to the sources behind factual and safety claims.
• We do not copy other publications. We read widely, then write our own explanations.
• We use AI-assisted tools to help with research and drafting. The publisher is responsible for what is published, and we correct errors when we find them or when readers report them.

What we do not claim

• Testing. Unless an article clearly says so, we have not physically tested the products we discuss. Our buying guides explain how product types work and what to check, based on research.
• Visits. Unless an article clearly says so, we have not attended the attractions we describe. Event details are taken from the operator’s own published information.
• Prices, ratings and reviews. We do not publish prices, star ratings or review counts, because they change constantly. We do not invent testimonials or customer quotes.
• Expert advice. Our safety information is general. It does not replace a product’s instructions, a qualified electrician, a doctor or your local fire and building authorities.

Product recommendations

When we recommend a type of product, we explain who it suits, what to look for and its limitations. Links go to Amazon search results for that product type, so you can compare current options and prices for yourself. Those links are affiliate links, which we explain in our affiliate disclosure. The possibility of earning a commission does not influence which product types we cover or what we say about them.

Time-sensitive information

Event dates, prices and policies change. When we report them, we name the source, link to it and show the date we last checked. Always confirm details with the operator before you travel or buy.

Fact and fiction

Historical statements are limited to what we can trace to a published source, which we cite. Short stories and story prompts on this site are original fiction and are labelled as fiction. We do not present invented stories as real folklore, history or paranormal evidence.

Images

We use photographs that are licensed for commercial use and we credit the photographer. Generic photographs are not presented as images of a specific attraction. Sources are listed on our photo credits page.

Corrections and updates

If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please tell us. We review every report, fix confirmed errors promptly and update the article’s modified date. Significant corrections are noted in the article.
